Powerscourt is a charming walled garden; the striking terraces, fine statuary and varied trees are linked by carefully designed walks and set in the magnificent surroundings of the Wicklow Mountains. Together they form one of the most beautiful Gardens in Ireland. The gardens were built in the late 1800s, designed by the 6th Viscount’s architect Daniel Roberston.
Within the gardens there are many different areas to explore such as the Japanese Gardens, Tower Valley where you will find the Pepperpot Tower, the dolphin pond and the pet’s cemetery, which is the resting place of many on the much loved pets of the Wingfield and Slazenger families. The families had a wide variety of pets including children’s ponies ‘Tommy’ and his wife ‘Magic’ as well as ‘Swift’ and ‘Bully.
